The wait is over… The Krank hooks are out now. Here’s an insight, straight from Tom Dove, head of product development who is the man behind this new pattern of hook. For a long time, when I was a little younger, I would always suffer from a large amount of hook pulls. There is nothing worse than losing fish and that sinking feeling as the lead skips back along the surface is something I wanted to distance myself from as much as possible. One of the popular rigs at the time was the use of Wide Gape style hook, with shrink tubing accentuating the eye and silicone or a ring on the shank. This tubing would close the gape, which I didn’t really like and it was this setup that I had the most trouble with.

The Krank pattern is the brainchild of Tom Dove, who was looking to design a hook that had the aggressive sweeping shank of the Kurv Shank, with an enormous gape for maximum purchase and hooking potential. Throw in an offset point too and you have the Krank, a hook that's such a good hooker it's best used with a simple knotless knot setup! Tom had simple setups like his own 'muzza' rig in mind when he began the development process, but the end product is a much more versatile beast that ensures that not only will you hook more fish, but you'll land more too!

The Wide Gape hook has become a true design classic, and has accounted for more big carp than any other pattern. It was based on the cult Maruta Kinryu pattern that found favour with the likes of Terry Hearn in the 1990s.

The Wide Gape B is exactly the same as the all-conquering Wide Gape, just with a slightly heavier wire gauge (the same as the Wide Gape X).

Wide Gape X The Wide Gape X is a beefed-up version of the Wide Gape, designed for use in the most extreme fishing situations on the Planet. It's been road-tested on infamously snaggy waters, like Rainbow Lake, and has even been used to land monster species like Arapaima and Mekong Catfish. Just like it's little brother, the Wide Gape X is suited to both pop-up and bottom-bait presentations. The heavily forged, square bend, beaked point and in-turned eye combine to make sure that you land that elusive monster, whether you're fishing a hard syndicate in the UK, or dodging tree stumps on some Continental super-water.

This hook was designed primarily for use with the popular chod and hinged stiff rig presentations, alongside a stiff filament like Mouth Trap. However, its appeal doesn't end there, it's a super all-round pop-up hook, which can be used with rigs like Darrell Peck's N-Trap pop-up rig, as well as Tom Dove's N-Trap bottom-bait rig.

The Choddy B is a barbless version of our Choddy hook, which has been designed for use with the popular chod and hinged-stiff rigs. It can also be used on bottom-bait rigs, especially with unstripped coated braid or fluorocarbon.

Kurv Shank The Kurv Shank is a fantastically versatile hook. It's aggresive hooking properties make it ideal for pop-up presentations and bottom-bait rigs too. It features in some of the most devastating rigs that we know, including Danny's trademark IQ D-Rig and Ali Hamidi & Gaz Fareham's pop-up combi rig. It owes its fantastic hooking properties to the sweeping curve of the shank, in-turned eye and long, straight, needle-sharp point. Those features make this pattern a great hooker when used without shrink tube; a simple knotless-knot rig will suffice when using the Kurv Shanks.

The hugely effective D-rig doesn’t really need to much of an introduction. Anglers like Danny Fairbrass, and others spread all over the globe, have been using variations of it for many years and in front of the underwater cameras it proved to be one of best hooking rigs.

The leader with a size 8 ring swivel on the end is best used with our inline leads, lead clips, running rigs and method feeders. Once wet all these types of lead system will easily slip over the tungsten collars and the welded loop at the end of the leader. When the leaders are dry, products such as inline leads and method feeders will stick to the tungsten sections and you will think they are unsafe. However, when wet they slip over them with ease and lets face it when underwater they'll always be moist.

Korda Safe Zone Anti Tangle Sleeves Korda Anti Tangle sleeves have been specially designed to reduce tangles, they also help to push the hooklink away from the lead. When using coated hooklinks such as Hybrid or fluorocarbons like IQ, the rig will work best when the hooklink is laid out straight and away from the lead system.

Korda Tail Rubbers have become some what of an institution when it comes to finishing off a rig, they were originally designed as a purpose made connector between the top of an in line lead and the rig tube. Our own rubbers concentrate on one thing, connecting the lead and the tube leaving little or no lip for the hooklink to tangle around on the cast. Since then we have designed our own lead clips to fit the rubbers already made for the top of an in line, people also slide the lead down onto a rubber semi fixed over the hooklink swivel so if the line breaks the lead can pull off the rubber down the tube and off the end of the line, a semi fixed rig that turns into a running rig. They have a multitude of other applications, being of high quality rubber compound they will stretch over many things to conceal or neaten a part of the rig, some people use them at the end of the hooklink as it joins the swivel for neatness and who are we to argue.
