In 1993, Danny Fairbrass made the move from smelting leads in his kitchen, to founding the ground braking Korda Developments. This was one of the most significant moments in recent carp-fishing history. By 2005, things had really gathered pace and Ali Hamidi joined the company to head the new marketing department. Korda’s carp-fishing influence spread abroad with the formation of Korda Europe. Now they are one of the biggest and most respected carp tackle suppliers and have launched some Iconic products like the Korda Goo's and Korda Compac Luggage. At the Angling Centre West Back we stock a vast range of Korda items.
Pronged Marker Lead - Mixed pack of 2oz & 3oz OR 3oz & 4oz - Uncoated to increase sensitivity - Pronged to not only provide the most senstive feedback possible but also retract some of the weed - Great casting qualities The sensitivity of the feedback from the pronged lead allows you to identify clear areas in sparse weed to the point where you can pinpoint exactly where the clear spots begin and end.

Our latest addition to the range of Intelligent Backleads is now here in the form of a tiny, 0.25oz/7 gram version. Intelligent Backleads are designed to pin the line down, keeping it close to the lake bed between the angler and the baited area. At Korda we believe that line concealment is a vital aspect of successful carp angling and these will ensure that this is successfully achieved! The new versions are the smallest in the range and are perfect for subtle, close-in work.
Pop-Up Corn - Buoyant plastic corn - Flavour is moulded into the plastic during production - Comes in four flavours - Supplied with free matching hair stops Korda's first release in the Fake Food range is this pop-up imitation corn. It's Danny Fairbrass' baby, and here's what he has to say about it:
Slow Sinking Corn - Balanced plastic corn that sinks under the weight of a hook - Flavour is moulded into the plastic during production - Comes in four flavours - Supplied with free matching hair stops
SUBline carp mono has been specifically designed by Team Korda to cope with all extreme fishing requirements. We have tested lines for many years in our lab and SUBline has outperformed all others in terms of toughness and knot strength. It is now the only choice when faced with heavy weed, snags or the abrasive terrain of gravel.
Touchdown is a performance mono that has been designed to help you feel more as the lead impacts the bottom. This has been achieved by reducing the stretch, while maintaining the abrasion resistance and casting performance. It sinks well and has great knot strength. We've made it available in two versions, a low-viz green and a dark brown colour to suit all the lake bed conditions that you're likely to encounter.
Zig Line Our first dedicated zig and floater hook link is fine, supple and camouflaged – everything you need to fool wary carp. The line carries a subtle green tint that has been formulated to blend in sub-surface. Zig Line is available in 7lb, 9lb and 11lb, on handy 100m spools.
- Dedicated floater line - Clear in colour to make your rig inconspicuous - Available in 6lb, 8lb, 10lb and 12lb breaking strains - Supplied on 150m spools
Mouthtrap Mouthtrap has been designed to create the ultimate stiff rig. During testing there is one element that particularly stood out for the lads involved in the team – it was easier to manipulate than any other stiff material on the market, without the hassle of steaming over a kettle, which takes up valuable fishing time and extra effort.
IQ2 Fluorocarbon IQ2 Fluorocarbon is a softer version of our legendary IQ. This softness makes it a versatile hook link material, which gives free movement to even quite light hook baits, like a single grain of pop-up corn, or real maize.
Korda Boom Fluorocarbon, Boom is a game-changing fluorocarbon! Its our first fluorocarbon that can be crimped, which opens a world of uses for rig tying. Its prime function is for creating stiff boom sections to help kick the hook bait away from the lead system, something Boom does each cast. You can use it to make combi-rigs, or out-and-out stiff rigs, for pop-ups and bottom baits alike. Your imagination is the only limit to its rig applications. Being a fluorocarbon, Boom blends with all lake bed types and, thanks to its subtle, green tint, its always inconspicuous to carp feeding around it. Boom is available in 0.55mm and 0.65mm, on 15m spools.
Korda N-Trap Soft Coated Hooklink, Although the original Hybrid hook links had many followers, the Korda product development team thought that it could be bettered. The resulting product, N-Trap Soft, is the culmination of two and a half years of development and testing. So, why is N-Trap the best coated material on the market? Well, it features a tough, matt coating that is easy to strip yet wont split when tightened down and the rugged Dyneema braid inner is a much better colour match for the coating than other hook links.
Kamo Coated Braid Kamo is a super-tough, camouflaged coated braid that's incredibly easy to strip. The strippable coating offers a multitude of presentation options, from simple combi rigs, right up to more complex rigs like the multi-rig. The clever banded-camouflage pattern helps your rigs to melt into the lake bed, whatever you're fishing over. Kamo is available in 15lb 20lb and 30lb breaking strains, but heavier-test options are also in stock for those fishing on the snaggiest European venues, such as the infamous Rainbow Lake. These comprise 50lb, 65lb and 80lb.
Kamo Rig Tube Not only does rig tubing stop the hook link from wrapping around the main line on the cast preventing a tangle, it also stops the fish coming in contact with the line during the fight. This is a vital safety aspect of the rig which we feel should not be ignored. Danny has actually seen a carp roll on the line as it was being played and watched as scales fluttered down to the lake bed. When the carp was landed it had several white marks where the scales used to be. This was from a method feeder where no tubing was required because the hook link was squashed inside the method ball so it couldn't tangle. But, for the sake of having some tubing on, which if you use it right doesn't have to spook the carp, you will ensure the fish stay as perfect as the moment they made the mistake of wanting your hook bait!
Hybrid Stiff Hybrid Stiff is THE coated hook link for use over clean lake beds. Its super-stiff, camouflaged coating helps kick your hook bait away from the lead every cast, to ensure perfect presentation. As such, its perfect for use with light baits such as pop-ups or wafters. The two versions, weedy green and gravel brown, have been chosen to blend with most lake bed conditions.
Arma-Kord - THE original braided leader - Super abrasion resistant - Supplied on 20m spools - 30lb and 50lb versions available - Length: 20m Arma-Kord is an incredibly abrasion resistant braided line, which is also supple and relatively thin for its breaking strain. It has been designed as a high-performance snag or shock leader for extreme snag fishing or long-range work. In tests this braid proved at least 50% more abrasion resistant than the nearest competitor. Its thinner diameter and low-viz brown colour also make it far less detectable underwater.
Rig Rings - Super-smooth PTFE coated rig rings - Perfect for making blowback rigs - Available in oval shape too - Sizes include X-Small, Small and Medium Korda Rig Rings are a crossbreed of the best parts of modern day metal technologies. The silky smooth PTFE coating enhances the effectiveness of rigs incorporating a ring, especially when coupled with Korda PTFE-coated hooks. Korda rig rings have been specially designed to help the angler create a variety of different rigs for the ever-changing demands required to catch carp today. Available in four sizes and finished in black to aid concealment, the presentation options are almost endless.
Size 8 Swivel The humble swivel completes the whole rig set up and since it is almost the last connection between you and the carp it needs to be reliable. We always bought swivels from the same source, until our suppliers’ supplier merged with a new company. The stocks were mixed and some were not as good quality so we immediately set about sourcing an alternative.
Chod Swivels - Size-11 ring swivels that have been re-engineered for chod fishing - A recessed barrel to allow counterbalance putty to grip - PTFE coated - Free turning to allow optimum rig function These size-eleven ring swivels have been subtly re-engineered to allow for putty to be securely moulded around the barrel. We’d noticed that most anglers used our size-11 ring swivels when making chod rigs, or the hook section of a hinged stiff rig. The team set about designing a swivel that would provide more purchase for the putty counterweight. These little beauties are the result…
The eagerly awaited Kickers are now in tackle shops! With fishing it can often be the simpler things which can make a real difference, and that is definitely the case with the new Kickers. For years anglers have been adding pieces of shrink tubing and the like to their hooks to help improve rig mechanics and make the hook turn more aggressively in the mouth of a carp and improve the chances of a hookhold.
Floss Caps help to efficiently secure your hook bait to your chosen rig. Many of today’s most popular rigs involve tying baits on to rings or micro swivels with floss, and this can be far more fiddly than it needs to be. The Floss Cap takes all the hassle out of it, replacing your usual boilie stop – with available colours including clear, yellow and pink, so it can be matched to your bait – and once your hookbait is positioned just how you want it on the rig, you simply slide on a Floss Cap so that it sits flush, and then blob the ends of the floss with a lighter to hold everything in place. Tying baits on has never been so neat and hassle-free!
Korda Stik Klip The thin profile of this Korda Stick Clips makes them ideal for sliding PVA sticks over and down the hooklink to protect the hookpoint on the cast. Allows for quick and efficient attachment and removal of rigs to maximise angling time
Kwik Links These clever bits of metalware allow you to change hook links or leads in the blink of an eye. Danny says: “I now use the Kwik Links for all of my fishing. I attach the link to the swivel that is held inside the inline or lead clip. I then tie an overhand loop in the end of the hook link making sure I tighten the knot fully, especially when I use the Hybrid Stiff material.
