ESP was launched in early 1999 and the initials literally stand for Extra Sensory Perception – or 'sixth sense'.
Prior to the brand launch, various names were being kicked around and the ESP name was inspired by an off-the-cuff remark made about Terry Hearn, the brand's longtime consultant.
It was suggested that he caught so many big, difficult to catch carp that he must have some sort of sixth sense or extra sensory perception - so the name stuck and ESP was born!
Ideal for sealing PVA Bags and keeping boilies nicely spread apart on stringers, it is also useful for tying long hairs to the hook to prevent them from tangling on the cast.
ESP Sink Link Braid, A combination of filaments which sinks rapidly and stays hard on the bottom without the need for putty or treatment. The loosely braided fibres provide a soft, supple feel whilst retaining a smooth round profile. Tangles are minimized due to its high density. Absence of white fleck in the weave.
ESP Barrel Bobbin Kit, The highly versatile Barrel Bobbin kits include everything required to provide excellent bite indication in most carp fishing situations. Available in seven colours white PTFE and red, blue, purple, orange, green and yellow acrylic. All components apart from the ball chain are machined in the UK in our own factory, ensuring exceptional quality and precision. The bobbins have an aesthetically pleasing barrel shape a refreshing departure from the standard cylindrical shape of most bobbins. The two stainless ball chains have a unique feature where we have used a plastic connector at one end and a 3g stainless connector at the other. This allows the chain to be simply reversed to add weight to the bobbin when required. Also adding the 3g stainless add-on weight integrated into the hockey stick increases the weight further and means that the PTFE bobbin can be used at weights of 5g, 8g or 11g and the acrylic bobbins at 3g, 6g or 9g. This makes for a highly versatile set up suitable for everything from slack line fishing where a light bobbin is used to tight line fishing at range with the weight of the bobbin increased to the maximum. For long range specialists there is also a stainless Metal Head bobbin available separately. This weighs 15g and with the stainless chain connector and add-on weight incorporated, can be increased to a weighty 21g. This extra weight improves bite indication at range on a tight line and especially in windy conditions. Kev Hewitt favours the Metal Head for most of his fishing and especially when zig fishing at range with a heavy lead where it comes into play for indicating drop backs. The interchangeable line clips simply allow the bobbin to be fished running on the line with the ball clips, or gripping the line Elstow style with the grip clips. The 3 ball chain is best suited to this set up, with the bobbin fished on a short drop near the bite alarm. Also available are super bright isotopes designed to fit the slot in the bobbin. These are sleeved in a clear PVC tube which not only protects the glass isotope but also provides a snug interference fit in the slot without the need for glue or sealant. An excellent bite indication set up which is precision made and not only highly practical and versatile but really looks the part too!
Tungsten Loaded Tube is significantly heavier than leadcore and is exceptionally supple, so it follows lake-bed contours, keeps the last few feet of mainline protected and anchors it hard to the bottom. The 0.65mm internal bore is easy to thread, even accepting tapered leaders and the outside diameter is a good fit for a variety of tail rubbers and rig sleeves.
When heated the Heat Shrink Tube will reduce in size to half its original diameter, forming a tough protective sleeve which can be curved or angled. Available in three diameters with the 1.6mm best for line aligner rigs and the 2.4mm for Ronnie rigs. The 3.2mm can be used for sleeving lead loops and swivels.
Silicone tube has a multitude of uses in carp fishing and with five diamters available the ESP tube covers everything. From trapping the hair against the hook shank and using for the toip bead on leadcore with the 0.5mm, to multi rigs with the 0.75mm and 1.0mm, to sleeving lead loops and swivels with the 1.5mm and 2.0mm. ESP silicone tube is tough, supple and the perfect shade of matt olive green.
ESP Sink Rig Tube, All with a single bore size of 0.5mm to accommodate lines up to 20lb b/s. Sink rig tube provides a snug fit into E-S-P Bolt Clip tail rubbers. Available in 2.5 metre lengths in 3 increasing diameters: Fine 1.25mm, Medium 1.75mm, Heavy 2.0mm
The special fluted shape provides extra stability both in flight and in water. The bomb weight on the bottom is aerodynamic for distance casting and balanced so that the controller sits low in the water, helping maintain position when mending the line. The high vis top is perfect for bite indication even at distance and the translucent body is unobtrusive - perfect for stalking wary surface feeding carp.
Streamlined Controllers are a classic shape which cast accurately with minimal splash. Perfect for summer stalking! Streamlined Controllers are best used by locking them onto the line with float stops or mounted on a short section of silicone tube which sleeves the hooklink swivel. They can be cast with pinpoint accuracy and the larger sizes can be cast in excess of 60 metres. The translucent body is inconspicuous and perfect for stalking wary surface feeding carp.
ESP Marker Darts These new Marker Darts are designed to bridge the size and range gap between the original ESP Mini Markers and Sonar Marker floats. Their blow moulded bodies are more buoyant than balsa, are much tougher and not prone to damage. Marker Darts do not oscillate in flight, cast straight and true ensuring precise accuracy at distance even in a crosswind. The interchangeable flights are tough and durable and attach to the body on a super strong glass filled nylon thread. The new floats are unique in that they have been designed for optimum performance with designated lead sizes. The small 20cm dart is best used with 2oz (56g) – 2.5oz (70g) leads, whilst the medium 22cm dart works best with 3oz (85g) – 3.5oz (100g) leads. These lead sizes result in optimum casting performance and are balanced perfectly against the buoyancy of the float so that no feel is lost when pulling the lead back along the bottom whilst feature finding. Available in both Small and Medium
Ready tied braid hooklinks designed for fishing bottom baits. These ready-tied rigs are available in barbed and barbless in sizes 4, 6, 8 & 10. They are tied to 9" (23cm) of Camo Sink Link, a Dyneema based braid which is smooth, strong and really sinks.

Chod Rigs are one of the best methods of presenting Pop-ups over weedy, silty lake beds with lots of detritus (chod) on the bottom. For optimum efficiency the rig uses ultra sharp Stiff Rigger hooks, Stiff Bristle Filament and a smoothly rotating Japanese Uni Link Swivel. The whipping knot on ESP Chod Rigs grips the hook very tightly ensuring the Bristle Filament comes off the hook dead in line with the shank. The combination of a high quality smoothly rotating Uni Link Swivel and a subtle curved ‘set’ to the Bristle Filament means that whichever way carp approach the hookbait the rig will spin round resulting in a secure hook hold in the bottom lip virtually every time.
Short chod rigs provide all the advantages of regular length chod rigs but offer a lower, more discreet presentation with the hook bait positioned closer to the lake bed. This makes them ideal for fishing over gravel and shallow deposits of silt, weed and detritus.
ESP Ronnie Rigs, Ready-made Ronnie Rigs incorporating our Cryogen Curve Shanx hooks. With smooth 360-degree rotation, ESP Ronnie Rigs provide optimum hooking potential and perfect pop-up presentation. The Rig incorporates non-slip Grip Stop, Hook Ring Swivel and Quick Change Uni-Link plus the all-important Cryogen Curve Shanx hook. Cryogenic tempering produces super strong hooks with more durable, long-life points.
ESP Ejector Lead Clips can be fixed securely to the swivel by means of the locking peg. This prevents them from riding up the line or leader and ensures the lead will always eject first and are particularly effective when targeting individual carp in weedy or snaggy conditions where ejecting the lead can make all the difference between losing or landing a big fish.
ESP Mega Method Rigs, Designed to perfectly complement the ESP Mega Method Feeders, these short braided rigs are also ideal for PVA bag rigs. Tied in ESPs own factory these rigs provide ultimate performance and convenience. We recommend a short, soft braided hook link of around 4 (10cm) long to be used with the Mega Method feeders. A hook link of stiffer material such as coated braid or fluorocarbon has a tendency to loop up when used with the method. As the groundbait or pellet break down, stiffer hook links can actually dislodge the hook bait and almost spring it out of its strategic position on top of the feeder. This particularly applies to counterbalanced hook baits. So to perfectly complement the feeders we have also launched a range of Mega Method Rigs. Also designed to be used in solid PVA bags, these rigs provide deadly effective presentation and hook holds and combined with the enclosed Extender stops, a wide variety of hook baits can be used. The overall length of 4 (10cm) is just right for tucking the hook bait back inside the method mix moulded onto the feeder. The super strong, soft Camo Sink Link braid is really inconspicuous and does not loop up or be prone to dislodge the hook bait from the feeder as the bait disperses, an inherent problem with stiffer hook link materials. The hair lengths have been kept purposely short to accommodate small baits such as artificial buoyant sweetcorn or small boilies and pellets, whilst the Extender Stops allow for the hair to be lengthened and larger baits or combinations of bait to be used. The loop at the top end of the hook link allows for quick connection and removal from a clip link or swivel, very useful when speed fishing on prolific runs waters. Tied using ESP Curve-Shanx Teflon coated hooks which are super sharp, strong and their shape ensures excellent anti ejection and hook holding properties without the need for shrink tube. Available in barbed and barbless sizes 6 20lb, 8 20lb and 10 15lb with 3 rigs per pack.
These chod rigs feature ESP Cryogen Stiff Rigger’s which are incredibly strong with super sharp, durable points. Tied to bristle filament which is set in an optimum curve, they incorporate a smooth rotating Uni-Link swivel and a metal bait screw to provide easy, secure attachment of any type of pop-up. Available in size 5, 6 & 8. Each pack contains three perfectly tied rigs
Leadcore is highly abrasion resistant, extremely supple and leaders are spliced at both ends to give a streamlined joint with maximum breaking strain. The 1.5m leaders are ideal for short to medium range up to 60m where the extra length helps to keep more of the terminal tackle firmly anchored along the bottom.
By reversing the long or short chain and moving one or both of the 3g weights from the hockey stick end, adjustments can be made to the balance and resistance of the bobbin.
