ESP Soft Ghost, Now even softer with more stretch, ESP Soft Ghost is an excellent hooklink or leader material particularly for wary carp in clear water. Being a pure fluorocarbon with the same light refractive index as water it is virtually invisible. A specific gravity of 1.78 makes it denser than water so rigs sink quickly and lie tight to the bottom. For maximum knot strength at the swivel end we recommend a 5 turn grinner or palomar and to attach the hook, a knotless knot or domhoff whipping knot.

ESP Anchor Braid, ESP has made an Anchor Braid which is extra dense and heavyweight designed to sink fast without the need for tungsten putty. Super supple and limp, it hugs the bottom following contours and undulations. This blend of high-tech fibres also provides excellent knot strength. 15LB and 20LB are available in low key weed green and gravel brown, Anchor Braid is a definite edge when fishing for pressured rig-shy carp.

ESP Camo Sink Link, ESP Camo Sink Link is a super strong, soft un-coated braided hook link material which takes camouflage to the next level. Tightly woven with a silky smooth feel and featuring alternating tones of colour which act to break up the outline of the hook link making it really inconspicuous, this provides a definite edge when fishing for pressured, rig shy carp in clear water. Although dyneema based for maximum strength, the special combination of interwoven fibres makes this braid sink heavily and its suppleness ensures it hugs the contours of the lake bed. Perfect for a variety of presentations such as stiff / soft or reverse combi rigs when used in conjunction with a stiffer material such as Ghost fluorocarbon or for simple braided bottom bait rigs, especially on waters where stiffer materials may be treated with suspicion or for stalking at close quarters. The Stiff Rig relies on a rigid hooklink to stand the bait off a fixed distance from the lead. The rigidity of the rig improves the effectiveness of the bolt rig system and provides a more efficient self-hooking mechanism. ESP Stiff Rig Bristle Filament is a low visibility, clear, filament with exceptional knot strength and abrasion resistance. However, its key property is that once smoothed out and tensioned into a straight length it has an almost 'spring loaded' quality which provides the ultimate stiff rig material. It is also the perfect material for chod rigs and the hook section on a hinge rig, where the filament can be set into the perfect curve for optimum hooking efficiency.

Exhaustive breaking strain tests have shown that a spliced section of approximately 30mm (1 ½inch) is sufficient to obtain maximum join strength.

ESP Marker Gum is the perfect material for tying stop knots on monofilament and braid-ed main lines to maintain consistent accuracy when clipping up and casting to baited spots and features. It works in exactly the same way as the popular pole elastics used for marker knots but ESP Marker Gum is much finer in diameter, nominally 0.45mm but un-der tension it will stretch and contract to around just 0.30mm. This fine diameter produc-es tiny knots which simply fly through the rings without hindering distance. Available in fluoro orange and yellow the different colours can be used on the same reel to mark dif-ferent spots. A simple 3 turn stop knot tightened down will grip the line securely and not move. To remove the knot simply cut one of the tag ends flush with the knot and pull on the other tag end to release. Available on 5m spools (although by stretching the material down you end up with almost twice as much).

As the name suggests, this ESP Cryogen Para-Point Hook has been designed using a unique cryogenic tempering process. Most commonly used in the motor sport industry, where it is used to strengthen the resilience of engines in Formula One cars, this is a process which alters the molecular structure of steel. In fishing hooks, this reduces the hook’s susceptibility to stress, increases its resistance against the kinds of wear and tear which you would usual expect to damage a hook on the bank, and it improves overall hook strength. This results in a hook which is, on average, between 30% and 40% stronger than traditional fishing hooks. The process first involves super heating the hook to temperatures in excess of 180 degrees. This is the point at which traditional fishing hooks are left to cool and packaged, but it is only the start of the process in the life of an ESP Cryogen Hook. The hook is then super-cooled over an extended period of time (usually 24 hours), bringing the hook temperature down to minus 195 degrees. This is the cryogenic freezing process and it is where the real strengthening magic happens. Finally, the hook is slowly brought back up to an ambient temperature – again over a number of hours. Not only does the ESP Cryogen Para-Point hook benefit from ESP’s cryogenic tempering process but it also benefits from a PTFE ‘Tufflon’ coating. A stronger and more durable version of Teflon, Tufflon ensures that the hook is super-slick – your fish won’t even have a chance!

ESP Cryogen Trig-Hammer, A new long shank pattern that has proved outstanding during field testing. Ultra-sharp, long fine needle points combined with an aggressive shape that achieves incredibly secure hook holds. ESP Cryogen Gripper, When ESP was looking at its existing hook range, the brand designers realised that something was missing: the brand was lacking the perfect, all-round, beaked point carp hook! The team set to work to design a product to fill the gap, utilising their brand new technology, and this ESP Cryogen Gripper was the result. This new hook is a combination of the classic T-6 and D-7 series, both of which were best sellers in their day, and it has been described as the perfect hook for fishing with bottom baits. It has been designed with a 10 degree in-turned eye, which is slightly shallower than that of the ESP Cryogen Classic in order to allow for an improved beak, and it features a super-fine, long, curved point for impressive hook holding ability. One of the biggest benefits of this new hook is its improved corrosion resistance. Terry Hearn, the living carp fishing legend, was wowed during the testing process of this hook as, even when fishing on acidic and silty bottomed pits, he has never experienced point corrosion with this hook – giving him the confidence to leave his rig out there for hours without the itching feeling that he needs to reel in and check that all is well. This ensures that he can leave the water undisturbed, tempting in those wily double figure monsters for which he is famous.

ESP Cryogen Grip Rigger Barbless Hooks, As the name suggests, this is an amalgam of the best features of the Cryogen Gripper and Stiff Rigger, which is almost unfair on the carp! The shape is that of the Stiff Rigger, with the fine curved 'sticky' point of the Gripper. We have been getting asked for a while for a chod / stiff rigger hook with an ultra-sharp beaked point and have answered those pleas with a hook that has even converted a few straight point devotees through the testing process! Although hook choice is often down to personal preference rather than exact science, a beaked point can provide extra assurance especially in weedy or snaggy conditions, with unbeatable hook holds - and so they have proved through the testing process. Made in the same wire gauges as the Cryogen Stiff Riggers, making them the perfect pop up hook, the Grip Riggers feature heavy forging and of course the Cryogen treatment making them incredibly strong with durable points.

New manufacturing techniques including both high temperature and cryogenic tempering have produced significantly stronger hooks with more durable, long life points. Cryogenic tempering is a process used to improve the molecular structure of steel which in turn reduces stress and improves strength and wear resistance. It is used in many disciplines with Formula 1 engine parts being a classic example. Bench tests on initial samples proved to us that the new tempering processes combined with improved designs and heavy forging resulted in hooks that were 25-30% stronger than other Tufflon coated carp hooks in the same wire gauge. So rather than having to improve strength by simply increasing wire gauge, new manufacturing processes have allowed ESP to maintain optimum wire gauges for each size which allow for fine, ultra-sharp needle points which are now more durable than ever.
