Adult specimens can reach some 50cm in length and weigh up to 1 kg. Mackerel are nomadic fish and live in large schools. They feed mainly on small crustaceans, plankton, snails and small fish. It is prized for its taste and high concentrations of Omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin B12.
